Review
Now working night shifts I get the chance to kill the time by watching films (a lot of films) most of these range from the randomly unknowns to the usual run of the mill cinema release. Tonight’s shift brought with it one of the Random’s, Ca$h staring Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek), Victoria Profeta (Mr Woodcock) and Sean Bean (Everything).

I went into the film without knowing the plot, and have to admit after watching it still struggle to easily describe the “plot” The story sounds a simple one, and one you would think has been done a hundred times, X couple find money, couple keep money, people come looking for said money. However Ca$h turns out to be a little more complex then just that, proving even difficult to pin point what genre to even place it in, Comedy? Crime? Thriller? Heist? Action? Sure, yeah, it covers all those, and yet, what’s rare for a film trying to cover all the bases is that with Ca$h this one actually seems to work!

Without a doubt it’s Sean Bean that really steals the movie here too, and I’m not just saying that because I’m a huge Bean fan (although it is difficult to picture anyone else in this role and the movie still been as enjoyable as it was). He’s playing a role that he doesn’t have to flex his muscles too much at, the bad guy! On the edge and you never really know what he’s going to do or say next, but then you’re never disappointed with the outcome. However I never thought I’d see the Bean showing us his new age Yoga moves, but hey, he’s a man of many talents.

It’s Bean who is given the task of recovering the money by his brother who is locked up behind bars. Bean reluctantly takes up the challenge and is lead to Chris Hemsworth and Victoria Profeta who happen to be happily spending the money. Now I have to admit I haven’t seen much of Profeta and only seen Chris in the Star Trek movie, but if there’s a fault in the film itself its with the couple and the sometimes shamefully poor acting, However as the film progresses the couple seem to grow into there roles and become more believable to watch. Its here where the film starts to really pick up the pace, not to include any spoilers here but Beans attempt to recover the money begins to go a little too far verging into the OCD and plain crazy area’s!

Without a doubt I found this film a little gem of a find, enjoyable, funny, twisted and some random violence and action thrown in for good measure. It’s certainly not going to win any Oscars, but if you’re looking for something original and refreshing and easy to watch I’d certainly recommend this, and come on, after all it’s the Bean!!
